Man wanted following Bury stabbing
Date published: 27/06/2008
Police investigating an assault in Bury in which a teenager was stabbed have released a CCTV image of the person they believe to be responsible.
In the evening of Wednesday 11 June 2008, a 19-year-old man was at the Metrolink station on Bury Old Road, Whitefield, when he got into an argument with another man. During an ensuing struggle the victim was stabbed in the back.
The offender, described as white, between 30 and 40 years old, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build and with a bald head, then ran off along the tram lines towards Prestwich Town Centre.
The victim was treated in hospital and received stitches to a stab wound. He is now recovering at home.
Detective Constable Mick Yates of Bury CID said: "The victim had been involved in an argument with the offender.
"What ever the provocation there is absolutely no excuse to stab someone. Anyone that is prepared to carry a knife on the streets poses a significant threat and needs to be caught.
"I would appeal to anyone that may recognise the man in the image to come forward and speak to police."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Bury CID on 0161 856 8150, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
