Wild parties a thing of the past for Whitefield resident

Date published: 25/06/2008

A Whitefield resident has been evicted from her home for subjecting her neighbours to a life of misery and fear by holding wild parties throughout the day and night.

Chantelle Barlow of Higher Lane held continuous parties where loud music, drinking and drug taking were the norm and sexual acts were conducted in public for all to see.

Miss Barlow tormented her neighbours from the start of her tenancy but despite numerous warnings, she failed to amend her ways, or that of her visitors. Numerous youths called at her home day and night and often gained access to the block via the communal front door which they kicked open. They often congregated on the stairwells and inside Miss Barlow's' flat to party, drink and take drugs. When residents tried to reason with her and her visitors they received verbal abuse and were threatened. One resident was reluctant to leave her home at all as she feared what may happen to it in her absence.

Susan Jordan Chief Executive of Six Town Housing said: "Residents of the block worked tirelessly with us to obtain the possession order and we thank them for sticking to their guns and helping us gather the evidence required to remove this young woman from their neighbourhood. We hope that they can now finally enjoy the peace and quiet to which they are entitled".
