Ramsbottom restaurant serves up success at National Food Awards.

Date published: 24/06/2008

Ramsons in Ramsbottom has beaten off strong competition from rival restaurants including London's Pied à Terre, to be named the winner of the Which? Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year award.

The award was presented to Ramsons by top chef Heston Blumenthal OBE, at a ceremony held at the British Museum on 17 June.

Ramsons won the award after being voted the public's favourite North West restaurant for the second year running. More than 20,000 members of the public voted for their top local independent restaurant to produce a shortlist of ten regional winners.

Councillor Yvonne Creswell, Executive Member for Community Engagement and User Focus said, "It is great news that a local business has won such a prestigious award and I think everyone at Ransoms should be proud of their achievement. I hope that this will spur on other local businesses to strive for national recognition."
