Date published: 11/06/2008
Local businessman Mohammed Ayyaz Khan is celebrating having been granted a conditional licence to sell alcohol at his premises on 29 Chesham Rd, Bury.
The case was heard by the Council's licensing panel on Thursday 29th May and representations were made by PC Helen Tildesley, the Police Licensing Officer, PC Ellis, the local beat officer.
Greater Manchester Police agreed that Mr Khan was properly qualified to run such an establishment and that he had experience of doing so in another Greater Manchester Police Division without difficulty. Mr Khan was granted the licence subject to conditions:-
The licensing panel did feel strongly that there were conditions that could actively promote the prevention of crime and disorder and the prevention of public nuisance and, the protection of children. Those conditions upon the licence are:
1. That all alcohol containers in which alcohol is available for sale from the premises be uniquely marked in a manner approved and agreed by Greater Manchester Police;
2. That the following alcoholic drinks be kept behind the counter or in a place where customers do not have direct access to those products without the assistance of a member of staff, namely:
i. All spirits, flavoured spirits, Alco pops (i.e. spirit based drinks mixed with soft drinks, flavoured juice etc, which will include and not be limited to products such as "Bicardi Breezers" and similar products);
ii. Cider
iii. Lager
3. That a person who is a personal licence holder or the designated premises supervisor be on the premises at all times at which alcohol products are sold;
4. That alcohol be sold between the hours of 09:00 to 22:00
