Victoria Tenants & Residents Association is running further community learning courses at Whitefield Primary School starting after half term.
A food hygiene course starts on Tuesday 3rd June, 1- 4pm. The 5 week course combines cookery and a food hygiene course accredited by the Institute of Environmental Health Officers. Students who successfully complete the course and pass a simple exam will receive a nationally recognised certificate.
A Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent qualification is essential for anyone who wants to work in catering, school meals, restaurants, food preparation and production or even as a volunteer preparing refreshments.. So this is a good opportunity to get a qualification to gain employment.
A digital photography course starts on Monday 2nd June, 10am - 12.00. The course covers down loading and storing images, editing pictures and printing. Some knowledge of using a computer is needed.
Both courses are free and for anyone aged 16 years and over. Places are strictly limited so it is essential to book in advance to book a place please phone Victoria TRA on 0161 766 4215.
Both courses are funded by grants from Whitefield & Unsworth Local Area Partnership.
Alan Bigwood, TRA Chair said, "The first food hygiene training course was very popular and oversubscribed. The IT photography course has been organised in response to requests from local residents who attended the first IT training sessions"
Cllr Michelle Wiseman, LAP Chairperson, said "it is really positive to see people developing new interests and skills and obtaining qualifications. This has been a very fruitful partnership between Victoria TRA and Whitefield Primary School. I am delighted that these activities have been funded by the Local Area Partnership"
