Gallagher's, contracters working on behalf of United Utilities has informed the council that the burst main should be repaired later this morning and the road which was severely affected should be re-instated and opened tomorrow around lunch time. To clarify it is Mersey Drive at its junction with Oak Lane that is closed, Oak Lane and Ribble Drive remain open.

Bradley Fold incident:
The acetylene incident is on-going at Bradley Fold, the cordon is effectively the Industrial Estate itself, all surrounding roads are open. BOC are due to pick up the cylinder at 12.00 today. The Fire commander on duty has told the council that the cordon will be lifted as soon as the cylinder has been removed, however there will still be a little damping down required.
