Meeting for businesses in Ramsbottom

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 19/02/2007

Businesses in Ramsbottom have been invited to a meeting on Thursday 22nd February at the Grants Arms, Market Place at 6pm to discuss the possibility of forming a business forum.

The aim of the meeting is to gauge the level of support for forming a Business Forum to represent businesses in Ramsbottom, and identify issues of importance which affect the town centre.

The meeting has been arranged by Bury Council’s Town Centres Co-ordinator Liz Gillan who said "The setting up of a Business forum would allow businesses in Ramsbottom to speak with one voice, improve communication and information links with the Council and other agencies, promote Ramsbottom and support local businesses. This is an opportunity to meet with other businesses, get involved with issues and activities in your town centre, and work together to improve Ramsbottom."

Businesses have been asked to identify their three key issues in the town centre which the group can then take forward.  Issues are likely to include the level of Parking in and around the Town Centre, CCTV, the future of the markets, and promotions to bring in more visitors to the town.

If the level of support is good, the group will decide how they will operate and agree an action plan.

It is important that businesses, old and new, in Ramsbottom have an opportunity to get together and get involved with issues that affect the town and business community, so anyone wishing to support and be part of the group should come along.

Further information can be obtained by contacting Liz Gillan by e-mail e.gillan@bury.gov.uk or on 0161-253-5974
