Bury seeks 'Fair Play' ideas
Date published: 04/07/2008
Team Bury's Play Partnership has recently secured £1.1 million funding for 25
new play spaces and they want to know what local residents should do with the
money.
Team Bury wants to hear what local residents' of all ages think of existing
play facilities, where the new facilities should be and what they should look
like.
A special 'Fair Play' consultation event will be held in the Elizabethan Suite
at the Town Hall on 11 July between 10am and 4:30pm. Local groups are also
being invited to put forward ideas for projects by the 11 July.
Team Bury hopes to invest in projects which will not take on a traditional
playground format, instead being created out of natural materials, that are
exciting and challenging for children and young people.
The new investment will mean that every child and young person in Bury should
have access to an outdoor play facility, which is free and is within ten
minutes of their home.
Councillor Diana Ashworth, Executive Member for Children and Young People, and
Play Champion said; " This is a really exciting and welcome opportunity for
Bury and consider play as an essential part of a child's development and I
hope these new facilities will allow children from different backgrounds, ages
and abilities to play together and learn from one and other".
