Free summer play schemes
Date published: 03/07/2008
Thanks to a successful bid to the Big Lottery for funding for summer play
schemes, Bury Ranger Service are running free outdoor play activities in parks
throughout the school summer holiday period.
Each child is entitled to participate for 3 days over the 6 week period,
subject to securing an available place on the scheme. The rangers will be
hosting a wide range of activities including clay modeling, helping local
wildlife, creating bottle rockets, parachute games and much more.
Playworkers will be helping the rangers in running the activities and to comply
with child protection legislation all staff working on the play schemes are
subject to Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checks.
Carragh Teague, Senior Ranger said "These new play schemes offer local children
a great opportunity to keep active and healthy during the summer holidays, make
some new friends and play in a stimulating, creative and adventurous
environment that is within easy reach of home."
