Celebration time!

To mark the 60th birthday of the (PCT) will host a commemorative event on Saturday 5 July 2008 – the day that the NHS was founded in 1948.
The event – which will be held at Bealey Community Hospital – will see Bury South MP and the Parliamentary under secretary of state for the Department of Health Ivan Lewis as guest speaker.
Chief Executive of Bury PCT Stephen Mills said: “The impact and influence the National Health Service has had on health improvements and public health advances over the years should not be underestimated.
“Our lives are longer and we enjoy more healthy years as a result of improved preventative techniques, healthy living advice and the use of technologies in medicine. This is a birthday well worthy of celebration.”
Bury PCT staff, as well as members of the Bury League of friends - a volunteer group that raises funds to support the work of healthcare staff in Bury - will attend the celebration which will include a special buffet lunch and cake cutting ceremony.
