Bury man to run Fire Brigade

Councillor Jack Walton has been today elected as the Deputy Chairman of the
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service.

Former Mayor, Jack Walton, who has been a Conservative Councillor for Church
Ward for the past ten years and has lived in Bury for over 60 years said: "It
is a great honour for me and I am delighted that Bury Council will be
represented at a senior level on this very important public service."

His new position will allow Jack to be instrumental in decisions made regarding
the safety and welfare of the people living in Greater Manchester. Jack has
three grown up children and two grandchildren. He is a keen sportsman and has
played and umpired cricket and played and refereed soccer in the Borough for
over 30 years.
