Kids get creative for new Childrens centres
Date published: 01/07/2008
Thanks to free family art courses mother and toddler groups across Bury have
created new artwork to be displayed in Children's Centres.
The Wider Family Learning Scheme's family art courses have taken place at
Guardian Angels, Chantlers, Bolton Road Methodist and the ABC Ainsworth Toddler
Groups with the aim of getting toddlers to create some funky artwork whilst
learning about colours at the same time.
The Library Service produced an information leaflet listing books which can be
read to young children to help them learn more about colours and these were
handed out to parents who attended the event.
Four bright collage canvasses have been produced for the St Stephen's
Children's Centre and four more courses are currently running in Radcliffe to
produce canvasses for the two Radcliffe Children's Centres.
Councillor Diana Ashworth, Executive Member for Children and Young People said,
"I think this is a great way for parents and children to spend quality time
together. The pieces of art will really brighten up the new Children's
Centre".
