Police in Bury and becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of a 73-year-old woman missing from the Prestwich area.

Edyth Beryl Burney was last seen at her home in the St Mary’s area of Prestwich at around 8pm last night, Thursday 25 April 2008.

She is described as white, 5ft 6in tall, of slight build with short black and grey hair, which is slightly curly. Edyth in known to have poor vision and has recently been unwell.

Edyth is known to visit shopping areas in Prestwich and Salford.

Chief Inspector Karan Lee of Greater Manchester Police’s Bury division said: “We are very concerned for Edyth's safety and her family are desperate to see her.

"It is completely out of character for her to go missing and I would ask for Edyth, or anyone who may have any information on her whereabouts, to get in touch.”
