The Bury Grammar School Parents’ Association presented a fabulous evening of hair and fashion on Wednesday 27th February.  The event, a complete sell-out, was inspired by Antony Popadich, a current parent and proprietor of the popular Antony for Hair Salon, Tithebarn Street, Bury.

The evening was supported by Urban Menswear, Tithebarn Street, Bury, Muse Womenswear, Market Place, Ramsbottom and CoCu Corset Couture, Barton Arcade, Manchester.   A team of models presented stylish clothing for men and women ranging from day wear through to evening wear, ball gowns and prom wear.  The show featured a wide range of fashion to suit all tastes and the outfits were complemented by the latest hair styles from the Antony for Hair salon team.

Following a champagne reception, local celebrity Caroline Hacking, Entertainment Reporter for Granada Reports, hosted the evening.  Caroline conducted an exciting auction which brought in bids for a week in a Lakeland Country Cottage, six months hairdressing at the Antony for Hair Partnership and a dinner party for eight brought to your own home by Jeffrey’s Exclusive Catering Service.

Further entertainment was provided by the cast of Les Miserables, singing excerpts from their forthcoming production and by the talented Amelia Thomas-Wilson who performed two contemporary dance routines.

The schools were thrilled to receive generous support from parents, friends and the local business community through donations of publicity material, fabulous raffle and auction prizes and lots of product samples and discount vouchers which the guests received in their goodie bags at the end of the evening.

The event was a huge success and raised in excess of £9,000 towards the new Sixth Form Centre for the pupils of both schools.

The boys L-R are Ryan Dutton (from Rossendale) and Jack Harrison (from
Greenmount), both BGS and modelling clothes from Urban Menswear.

The girls are Robin Relph (from Prestwich) and Olivia Halstead (BGS) from
Bolton modelling clothes from Muse Womenswear

Jamie Lee Johnson, from Bury, modelling a gown from CoCu Corset Couture.
