Man bailed following Bury murder

Date published: 06/12/2009

The man arrested after Kevin Fielding was found dead at home in Bury has been bailed.

Kevin, aged 41, was found dead at his home on Cameron Street, Bury at around 10.15am on Monday 30 November 2009.

A post mortem revealed he had suffered a number of stab wounds.

A 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released on bail until 21 January 2010 pending further inquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about Kevin's murder to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Pete Marsh of Greater Manchester Police's Major Investigation Team said: "Kevin was a vulnerable man and a completely innocent victim, who was brutally killed in his own home.

"There is absolutely no evidence to suggest Kevin was targeted because he was vulnerable and I would urge the community not to be alarmed, however I know there will be concerns about what has happened.

"Please be assured we are working hard to find the person responsible and there will be extra patrols in the area over the weekend to provide advice and reassurance to the local community at this troubling time."

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4711 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
