Have your say on health

Date published: 18/05/2009

Residents can play their part in improving health and social care at the next meeting of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership.

The agenda includes Bury LINKS, a project jointly funded by NHS Bury and Bury Council to involve local communities.

Victoria Butcher, LINKS development worker, will explain what the project does and how people can get involved.

The LAP meeting is on Monday, June 1, starting at 6.30pm at Elms Community Centre, Green Lane, Whitefield.

The meeting will also decide which roads can be improved this year, from a list drawn up through an independent assessment of all highways in the borough. Some £63,690 has been allocated to Whitefield and Unsworth for this work.

Members will consider grant applications from Elms TRA to run a gardening competition, Whitefield Youth Group for a youth arts event, Rivers Gardening Club to turn a “grot spot” into a community garden, and Whitefield Graveyard Volunteers Group for machinery and tools.

There will be reports from the police, youth service, extended services and Besses Children’s Centre.

Residents can ask questions and raise concerns during the usual 30-minute open forum.
