A new time for Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership’s meeting

Date published: 12/11/2008

The next meeting of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership takes place on Tuesday 18 November at 1pm at Elms Community Centre.

This is an afternoon meeting because as the early nights draw in many older people do not like to go out at night in the winter months. Top of the agenda will be the future of the temporary speed bumps on Melton Drive with Highways presenting a report for decision by the Partnership. There will be updates from the Police, Fire Service and Youth Service as well as 30 minutes of Question Time when members of the public can raise any issues.

The meeting will then focus on how the Partnership can contribute children and young people’ issues including health, safety and positive activities.

Finally the Partnership will be deciding on community grant applications for a craft course, play group start up costs, youth sessions, after school homework sessions and older womens health sessions.

Cllr Michelle Wiseman, Chairperson of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership, said: “The Local Area Partnership will be responding to residents’ concerns expressed at our last meeting regarding proposals to retain the temporary speed bumps on Melton Drive. We will then be looking at youth issues in depth with our partners. It should be an interesting meeting and anyone who lives or works in the area is very welcome to attend.”
