Bury libraries and Adult Learning Centres score top marks for customer satisfaction

Date published: 03/11/2008

Between 6 and 12 October 2008 Bury’s libraries and Adult Learning Centres took part in National Customer Service Week.

Visitors to libraries across Bury took part in a customer satisfaction survey to find out what people thought of their local library. Over 500 people took part in the survey and the results show an increase in customer satisfaction, with results rising from 94.7 % in 2007 to 97.3% for 2008.

National Customer Services Week was introduced in 2001 and is designed to raise awareness of customer service and the vital role it plays within an organisation. It is an opportunity to recognise the important part staff play in providing an excellent customer service. Bury Libraries and Adult Learning Service first took part in the event in 2007.

For 2008, the comments and feedback received from library users were on the whole extremely positive. Comments included praise for staff for being very polite, friendly and helpful both in how they dealt with customers and providing the information requested.

Councillor Yvonne Creswell, Executive Member for Community Relations and User Focus, said: “I am delighted with the results of the survey this year and grateful to all our customers who took the time to complete it. These results reflect the dedication and commitment of all our staff as they work to ensure all customers and learners enjoy the time spent at their local library.
