Elms winter warmer delight
Date published: 31/01/2010
Elderly residents in Elms, Whitefield should be feeling a little warmer this winter thank to a grant award from Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership (LAP).
Elms Tenants Group was awarded £500 to make up some winter warmer hampers for older residents. The hamper contains items such as hand warmers, knee blankets, hot chocolate, soup, rice, pasta, tined food, a thermometer, gloves and low energy light bulb – all things which can help people Keep Warm and Stay Well.
Elms Tenants Group hope to work with a local primary schoo help deliver the hampers to local residents who are aged 60 or above.
Chair of Whitefield and Unsworth Local Area Partnership Councillor Michelle Wiseman said “This is a great scheme which will help support vulnerable residents in the worst winter we’ve know in recent times. I must applaud Elms Tenants Group for coming up with a wonderful project that will keep our elderly residents both safer and warmer.”
