Bury’s libraries better than ever
Date published: 27/01/2010
Customers of Bury’s libraries seem to be happier than ever with the service they receive.
Visitors are at times asked to complete a short questionnaire to test users’ satisfaction with all the services that a modern library has to offer. These surveys are then independently analysed by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
The most recent survey was carried out last October and the results are now in, showing that 96% of users are satisfied with Bury Library Service, which is an improvement on the previously highest result of 95%.
The library service, however, welcomes comments from visitors all year round, not just through the CIPFA survey.
All comments are taken on board and used, wherever possible, to improve services, while information about how library services are performing is also displayed on boards in the libraries.
Diana Sorrigan, assistant director (arts, libraries and adult learning), said: “It is fantastic that our satisfaction level is showing an increase. I appreciate that customers sometimes feel they are always filling in forms but collecting this type of information is really important for us to ensure that we are continuing to provide an excellent service for our users.
“We need to know what residents think about our services and more importantly suggest ways in which we can improve them.”
