Parking focus for business forum

Reporter: Ask Bury
Date online: 15/01/2007

Bury town centre forum meeting will take place on Monday, January 22 at 5pm in the main theatre at the Met on Market Street, Bury.

The focus of the business meeting will be parking provision in Bury town centre and Bury council representatives will be providing information about the recently approved Interim Parking Strategy, which covers the provision and management of parking during the construction of the Rock Triangle town centre redevelopment scheme.

A key issue for business, the meeting will allow town centre businesses to find out about changes to parking provision in the town centre and discuss the proposed management and information system.

Full updates on the Rock Triangle development will also be included highlighting key dates in the development programme which started on site this month. Businesses will also be asked at this meeting for their views about the use of advertising boards in the town centre, as part of the council’s highways policy.

Liz Gillan, Town Centres Co-ordinator for Bury council said: "The forum meetings are a key element in the development of a town centre partnership for Bury, a partnership between the business community, Bury council and other agencies in the centre. The forum provides an opportunity for businesses to find out what is going on in the town centre that may affect business, and provides an opportunity to raise any issues of concern and get involved.  All businesses are invited to attend, it’s your business and your town centre so come along and find out more".

Anyone requiring further information about the meeting should contact Liz Gillan on 0161 253 5974 or by e-mail to implementation@bury.gov.uk
