Witton Weavers Way - Walk

Spring in to Action this weekend in Whitefield

As part of Whitefield Local Area Partnership’s work to get local residents fit and healthy, a special urban walk for Sport Relief has been organised.

The mile long walk takes place on 21 March and starts from Elms Community Centre at 12 noon. The walk, led by an experienced group walk leader will take in some of the sights and sounds of spring and is suitable for all age ranges, including families with young children.

Participants in the event will be able to take home a free fruit and veg hamper worth £5 and they will also receive a certificate for taking part.

Easter Fun with the Bury Ranger Service

Get to know the local countryside by joining Bury Ranger Service on a guided walk on Tuesday 14 June.

The four-mile walk over moderate ground starts and ends at Burrs Country Park, taking in Summerseat and the Irwell Sculpture Trail. Participants can find out more about the varied work of the rangers.

Walkers should meet at the chimney in the main car park at Burrs Country Park at 11am. No booking is required, but people should bring their own refreshments and wear suitable footwear and clothing.

Hayfield and Lantern Pike - Walk

Print this Event

The walk is a circular from Hayfield which uses two sections of the Pennine Bridleway. It will visit Birch Vale before ascending Lantern Pike, from which excellent views may be obtained. From Lantern Pike the walk heads north and skirts Matley Moor before turning south-east and proceeding in the direction of Kinder Reservoir. On Middle Moor, near a shooting cabin, a right turn is taken onto the Snake Path and this is followed back to Hayfield.
